Fallas Festival Traditions and Customs
The Fallas Festival is a traditional celebration in Valencia, Spain, held in honor of St. Joseph. The main attraction of the festival is the creation and burning of elaborate ninots, large, intricate, papier-mâché sculptures that are displayed throughout the city streets. Each neighborhood competes to create the most impressive ninots, which are then burned in a grand bonfire on the last night of the festival.
In addition to the ninots, the Fallas Festival features parades, music, fireworks, and traditional costumes. The streets are filled with food vendors selling local delicacies, and there are bullfights and other events throughout the week-long celebration. The festival dates back to the 18th century and is a beloved tradition in Valencia, drawing visitors from all over the world to experience its unique customs and vibrant atmosphere.
