Falles: A Spectacular Event
Falles: A Spectacular Event
Falles is a traditional celebration in Valencia, Spain, featuring elaborate sculptures, fireworks, and parades. The event culminates in the burning of the sculptures on the night of March 19th.
Each neighborhood creates its own Falla, a large sculpture made of cardboard, wood, and papier-mâché, depicting satirical scenes and political figures. The sculptures can reach heights of up to 20 meters and are displayed throughout the city.
The week-long festival includes daily parades, music, and traditional costumes. On the final night, known as La Crema, the Fallas are set ablaze in a spectacular display of flames and fireworks, symbolizing the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
