Falles: A Time of Renewal

Falles is a traditional festival in Valencia, Spain, celebrating the arrival of spring. During this time, elaborate sculptures are built and then burnt in a symbol of renewal and letting go of the past.

Participants come together to create these sculptures, known as «fallas», which often depict satirical scenes or political figures. The burning of the fallas on the final night of the festival is a cathartic experience, allowing people to release any negativity and start afresh.
