The Origins and Evolution of Falles
The Origins and Evolution of Falles
Falles is a traditional celebration in Valencia, Spain, dating back to the Middle Ages. Originally a pagan ritual to celebrate the arrival of spring, it has evolved into a week-long festival featuring parades, fireworks, and the burning of elaborate sculptures.
Each neighborhood constructs its own «falla» or sculpture, which is displayed throughout the week before being burned on the final night of the festival. Over the years, Falles has become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world to experience this unique celebration of art, culture, and tradition.
