The History of Valencian Falles

Valencian Falles is a traditional celebration in Valencia, Spain, dating back to the Middle Ages. It is a festival honoring Saint Joseph with colorful parades, fireworks, and the burning of intricate papier-mâché sculptures known as «falles.»

Originally, falles were simple wooden torches burned by carpenters to mark the beginning of spring. Over time, the celebration evolved into a grand event with various competitions and activities throughout the city. Today, Valencian Falles is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
